Growth pulled the switch and outdid value for another turn this week. We also noted an interesting trend in US Equities. Large companies were up from the previous week while Mid and Small Companies were down as you can see in the graph. Small Caps were down the most, but they have the most to lose from showing off earlier this year.
The U.S. Equity market has displayed amazing returns YTD obscuring much of the volatility the chart has revealed week to week over the last month. The only asset class achieving steady week to week growth last month was Large Growth.
U.S. REITS were down slightly while Global REITS were up. Commodities were up over 3% and earned title of 2nd highest week over week increase – when was the last time we said that?? In fact, Commodities now boast over a 20% return YTD.
Foreign Equities have recently been tracking a similar pattern to US Equities. Last week, however, they moved opposite. Foreign Small Caps were the only asset class advancing.
Bonds, with exception of Foreign Bonds, were all up a bit. So far this year, US High Yields are up the most at 3.82% YTD return.
Have a great weekend!
