…the chart tells several interesting stories.
For a first this year, US Large Value stocks inched ahead of Large Growth stocks. That’s another great tribute to the turnover in the market. A very good sign.
Large companies zigged against smaller companies zagging. Value companies traded strides with growth companies. Value stocks gained as growth stocks lost.
Year to date, US Small Value leads US equities at 26.0%.
US Mid Growth trails at a still decent 7.2% YTD.
US Equity REITS lead Foreign REITS YTD.
Commodities are poised to erase the 15-year negative trailing return with a whopping 2.2% increase in the one-week tracking.
Foreign Stocks followed domestic equities.
Foreign Growth slipped.
Value gained 1.25%, breaching 10.0% YTD, nearly doubling Foreign Growth.
All bonds were negative on the week reflecting intermediate term yields rising on inflation and, in anticipation of the Fed tapering bond purchases later this year.
All in all, the US stock market points toward further expansion amid economic and political turmoil. While volatility is likely remain, any downturn could disrupt this year’s bull market. Yet, the upward march should not be counted out by any means.
